I am a Londoner, born and bred.
My home is here, and I work here. The River Thames is the soul of my city and every day I try to at least catch a glimpse of it’s moods. She gives us the heritage of this wonderous place, a myriad of peoples from every part of the planet, most of us working to live together without bias or prejudice.
When the British Lions go on tour, I stand and shout 99, when Spurs lose again I shout ‘damn gooner scum’, no matter who they are playing. I go raving when I can, love listening to the busking musicians on the South Bank, travel by tube and try not to get too langered, too often.
I am also a Muslim.
This country has given me that freedom of choice, to be all things that I want to be. This freedom was argued for, debated for, and fought for, by generations of Brits. The least we can do is to ensure that legacy is not lost to those who would steal our rights just to feed their twisted ambitions…
